A. Edward McGinty is practicing in the Corporate Law, Tax, Trusts and Estates and Real Estate practice groups, he has extensive experience in structuring complex corporate commercial, health care, and real estate transactions. Ed has served as legal counsel to public authorities and has considerable lobbying experience in connection with tax, financing, land use, sports facilities, and other matters before congressional and Florida legislative committees.
His practice also focuses on domestic and international structures for business, wealth development and preservation, and estate planning for entrepreneurs, including; tax and asset protection planning, involving domestic and international corporations, LLCs, limited partnerships, and trusts. He is frequently involved in a variety of transactions to satisfy tax and financing objectives, as well as using his vast legal and tax experience in advising clients on the development of corporate and business strategies and tactics.
Originally studying to be a doctor, Ed soon realized that was not the right path for him. After switching to a liberal arts major, with most of his electives in accounting, finance, and economics, he planned on pursuing an MBA and/or going to law school. However, the military intervened after graduation and he gained experience as a company commander and then a staff officer, helping him understand how to organize a few hundred people to accomplish both routine business operations, as well as run a fleet of trucks and other supporting operations.
As a company commander, he had to deal with claims of drivers, farmers, and others who had been damaged, or allegedly damaged, by vehicle accidents involving military trucks or other actions of his people. Ed found that he quickly grasped the fabric of the law and its application to various scenarios; so much so, it seemed that practicing law was what he was meant to do.
