Adam Pulver is an attorney at Public Citizen Litigation Group. Prior to joining the Litigation Group in 2017, he held a variety of positions in public interest law, with significant experience in administrative law, civil rights, labor and employment law, and constitutional law.
Most recently, Mr. Pulver was a Senior Attorney at the Office of the Solicitor of Labor at the U.S. Department of Labor, where he worked on policy, trial and appellate litigation, and regulations relating to discrimination, labor union governance, and labor-management relations.
As part of his work at DOL, he was the lead attorney on issues relating to sexual orientation and gender identity, and helped author and implement historic expansions of the nondiscrimination requirements for federal contractors on these bases.
Prior to joining DOL, he spent several years as an associate at Emery Celli Brinckerhoff & Abady LLP in New York, where he litigated civil rights, employment, housing, consumer, and commercial cases in state and federal courts at all levels.
He also worked at the ACLU of the Nation’s Capital as a volunteer attorney. Following law school, Mr. Pulver served as a law clerk to the Honorable Christina A. Snyder, Honorable Stephen G. Larson, and Honorable Virginia A. Phillips, all of the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
Mr. Pulver has authored a number of publications relating to labor and workplace issues, disability rights, and sexuality and gender law, and is a frequent speaker on these topics. In 2015, he was named one of the nation’s Best LGBT Attorneys Under 40 by the National LGBT Bar Association. Mr. Pulver is a past president of the LGBT Bar Association of the District of Columbia and is an active member of the community.
He graduated from Columbia Law School in 2008, where he was a James Kent Scholar and Dean’s Public Interest Law Scholar, and received the Allan Morrow Prize for Sexuality and Gender Law.
He served as Executive Editor of the Columbia Journal of Law and Social Problems, and was a member of the Sexuality and Gender Law Clinic and City Bar Legal Clinic for the Homeless. During law school, he worked at the ACLU’s LGBT Rights Project, New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, and Altshuler Berzon LLP, as well as as an intern for the Hon. Gerard E. Lynch, then of the Southern District of New York. Mr. Pulver earned his undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Tufts University.
Mr. Pulver is a member of the New York and District of Columbia bars and is admitted to practice in several federal courts.
