Alan M. Pittler partners with employers to achieve their goals in the workplace. He provides practical and insightful counsel to human resources managers, in-house attorneys and executives regarding employee relations and compliance issues. He also vigorously defends employers’ interests before courts, administrative agencies and labor arbitrators, and at the bargaining table.

Previously, Alan served as associate general counsel at the University of Pittsburgh for nine years and as a partner at a national law firm. Throughout his career, Alan has handled all aspects of management-side labor and employment law for private and public sector employers, including those in the fields of higher education, health care, hospitality, technology, manufacturing, and energy.

Alan is a frequent speaker on workplace legal issues, such as diversity and inclusion initiatives, effective investigations and developments under the patchwork of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations impacting the workplace.

Alan is a member of the Pittsburgh Human Resources Association and Society for Human Resources Management, member and past council member of Allegheny County Bar Association, Labor and Employment Section, and a member of National Association of College and University Attorneys.

Alan received his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations. He earned his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
