Alexander C. “Sandy” Graham’s practice includes mergers and acquisitions; securities and banking; venture capital transactions; real estate development; antitrust; international business transactions; representation of national and state trade associations and of non-profit organizations; and hotel development and financing.

The co-author of “Controlling Financial Misconduct by Bank Employees: The Effect of Financial Privacy Laws,” which appeared in The Banking Law Journal, Mr. Graham also wrote and periodically updates the article on Redevelopment and Housing Authority Law in the Virginia Local Government Attorneys Handbook. He is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars and has lectured on business organizations, international business transactions and issues affecting the construction industry.

Prior to joining Williams Mullen, Mr. Graham was a partner with Hirschler, Fleischer, Weinberg, Cox & Allen in Richmond, Virginia, and was chairman of the firm’s 17-lawyer Business Section. While at Hirschler, Fleischer, he concentrated his efforts in mergers and acquisitions work and represented a major bank in many commercial loans. He had been with the firm since 1987.

Mr. Graham serves on the boards of directors of The Esther Thomas Atkinson Museum of Hampden-Sydney College, the Goochland Free Clinic and Family Services, Preservation Virginia (f/k/a The Association for Preservation of Virginia Antiquities), Battersea Foundation and Public Art Petersburg.

Mr. Graham serves as president of the Battersea Foundation, immediate past president of Goochland Free Clinic and Family Services and VP of Preservation Virginia. He is also a member of the University of Virginia Arts Council.

Mr. Graham is a member of the Richmond, Virginia, and American Bar Associations and the Virginia State Bar. Mr. Graham received his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1975. He graduated summa cum laude from Hampden-Sydney College in 1972.
