Mr. Alfredo Acin is an associate in the firm’s Family Practice Group. He assists clients in a variety of family law matters including divorce, child custody and visitation, child support, alimony, property division, post-divorce decree enforcement, modification of custody, visitation, and support, and drafting pre-nuptial and separation agreements.
Although he believes that it is in every party’s best interests to resolve matters between the parties, Mr. Acin recognizes that sometimes this is not possible, in which case he will zealously advocate on his clients’ behalf. In addition to family law, Mr. Acin also has extensive experience in various areas of law – ranging from drafting legal documents, to criminal defense, and complex commercial litigation.
Mr. Acin also advises clients concerning U.S. immigration law, and has successfully represented clients in immigration and removal proceedings before U.S. Immigration Courts, the U.S. Immigration Citizenship and Immigration Service, Customs and Border Protection, and the U.S. Asylum Office. Alfredo was an associate in The Law Offices of Lewis and Associates. He practiced within the litigation, immigration, criminal, and bankruptcy law practice groups.
He also interned at the United States Department of Agriculture’s Office of Rural Development in Washington, D.C. and in the legal department of Verizon Business, and worked as a law clerk for the Alliance of Artists and Recording Companies. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Acin was an Information Technology professional at Data Systems Analysts, Inc.
Mr. Acin received his J.D. degree in 2008 from the Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America. At the Columbus School of Law, Mr. Acin earned a Certificate from the Comparative and International Law Institute and was a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution team, with whom he represented the Columbus School of Law at the 2006 and 2007 American Bar Association Regional Negotiations Competitions.
Mr. Acin received his Bachelor of Science degree in Information Sciences and Technology from the Pennsylvania State University, where he also minored in Business Logistics.
