
Alison Silveira is counsel in the Labor & Employment Department of Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s Boston office. Ms. Silveira represents management in a range of employment-related matters, including litigation of single and multi-plaintiff claims and employment counseling.
Ms. Silveira has defended employers in federal and state court and before regulatory agencies against claims of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation as well as claims of violations of wage and hour laws, including class and collective actions. She also has significant experience litigating matters involving trade secrets and restrictive covenant agreements.
Ms. Silveira also regularly advises employers regarding employment-related matters, including compliance with federal and state employment laws, personnel policies, employee handbooks, workplace investigations, disability accommodations, leave management, and terminations.
In addition to her practice, Ms. Silveira is active in pro bono work. She recently represented the Disability Law Center in litigation in federal district court against the Massachusetts Department of Correction concerning the treatment of seriously mentally ill prisoners.
She is also on the Board of Directors of Nazdeek, Inc., an international human-rights focused nonprofit organization that provides legal training on issues surrounding access to health care, housing, and food in South Asia. Prior to law school, Ms. Silveira volunteered with the United States Peace Corps in Mali.
