
Allison Scher Bernbach is Senior Counsel in the Firm’s Private Funds Practice, where she advises asset management clients, both traditional and alternative, on regulatory issues. Allison regularly counsels funds clients on various complex regulatory matters, including compliance with the Advisers Act, SEC examinations and the structuring of acquisitions of other investment managers.
Allison has over 20 years of regulatory compliance experience servicing global, multi-strategy asset management firms both as outside counsel and in-house, and in both compliance and legal roles. From 2011 to 2017, Allison served as Managing Director and Chief Compliance Officer of CCMP Capital Advisors, where she oversaw all aspects of the firm’s SEC investment advisor regulatory compliance program and served on the firm’s Operating Committee.
Prior to joining CCMP Capital Advisors in 2011, Allison was Associate General Counsel and Compliance Officer at Oak Hill Capital Management, LLC, Corporate Counsel at Fischer Francis Trees & Watts, Inc. (“FFTW”) and Vice President and Counsel at Alliance Capital Management. As Associate General Counsel and Compliance Officer of private equity firm Oak Hill Capital Management, LLC, Allison was responsible for SEC regulatory compliance matters, including implementing and overseeing the firm’s regulatory compliance program.
Similarly as Corporate Counsel for FFTW she was a senior member of the team responsible for the implementation and administration of the global regulatory compliance program for the firm’s U.S., U.K., Tokyo and Singapore offices. As Vice President and Counsel at Alliance Capital Management, Allison oversaw the firm’s compliance program with respect to the firm’s portfolio of sub-advised mutual funds.
Allison received her J.D. in 1996 from New York University School of Law where she was a Norma Z. Paige Scholarship recipient. She received her B.A., magna cum laude, from Binghamton University, State University of New York in 1993, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
