Alton concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate and governmental law transactions, together with general civil litigation involving business, corporate and governmental matters. Alton has significant experience in the areas of real estate, development, planning, governmental relations, mergers, acquisitions and related matters.
Prior to entering the practice of law, Alton was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army, served in the Republic of Vietnam and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel, having been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, the Bronze Star, the Air Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and Aerial Observer Wings.
Alton is a member of the American Bar Association, the Alabama Bar Association and the Birmingham Bar Association. He has served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Birmingham Bar Association and is a past founding member of the Board of Directors of the Birmingham Bar Association Foundation. In law school, Alton was Associate Editor of the Cumberland Law Review.
