
Alva C. Mather is a business lawyer, litigator and first-chair trial attorney with more than a decade of experience representing clients ranging from startups to Fortune 50 companies.
Her areas of concentration include complex commercial litigation and regulatory counseling of clients in the food and beverage, particularly alcoholic beverages and franchise and distribution industries.
Alva assists clients in all aspects of civil litigation and regulatory enforcement, including representing them in investigations and enforcement actions before federal and state regulatory commissions as well as in state and federal court through the prosecution and defense of distribution, supply and other contract disputes
Over the course of her career, Alva has developed extensive experience in all aspects of case preparation and trial. This work includes managing teams of attorneys and support staff, conceiving of and executing case strategy, deposition taking and defense, briefing and arguing discovery motions, preparing clients for deposition and trial, preparing expert reports, preparing for deposition and trial, preparing and defending summary judgment and Daubert motions, negotiating settlements, preparing and cross-examining witnesses at trial, as well as taking the lead in all trial preparation and team management during the course of trial.
Alva combines extensive knowledge of the regulatory and litigation landscape and well as her deep understanding of the food and beverage industry to help clients mitigate risk, respond to challenges and capture opportunities.
She represents and provides business counsel, regulatory advice and litigation support to companies along the food and beverage spectrum, among them manufacturers, suppliers, grocery stores and restaurants. Alva is also an active industry participant, writing and speaking on matters affecting the alcohol industry.
