Mr. Amadeo Cantu is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP and a member of the Firm’s Real Estate Department. Mr. Cantú represents financial institutions, investment advisors and pension funds in connection with commercial mortgage loans secured by hotels, office buildings and industrial projects, including construction loans, workouts, discounted pay-offs, and deeds-in-lieu of foreclosure.
In addition, he represents investment advisors, REITs, and pension funds in connection with their investments in hotels, office buildings, and industrial and apartment projects. Mr. Cantú also has extensive experience representing institutional landlords and corporate tenants of office and industrial projects, with special expertise in sublease transactions.
Mr. Cantú has deep experience in the hotel industry. Over the last few years, he has handled over $2 billion in hotel acquisitions and dispositions for properties in California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Washington, and Washington DC.
Notable transactions include the sale of a $365 million hotel in California, a construction loan for a hotel located in South Beach, and a second mortgage loan secured by a resort located in Colorado. Mr. Cantú has significant experience with hotel financing and hospitality matters, including franchise agreements, management agreements, and hotel operational matters.
