Amanda W. Thai is an experienced litigator and concentrates her practice on complex litigation with a focus on commercial, property, and residential construction disputes, premises liability, products liability, catastrophic casualties, commercial claims, negligence claims, insurance, transportation, and toxic torts.
In her representation of a diverse range of clients, Amanda has also successfully handled a number of mediations and arbitrations. By balancing aggressive advocacy with cost-saving efficiency, Amanda has secured many dismissals and favorable settlements for individual, corporate, and insurance clients. Amanda is committed to giving back to her profession and community.
She is actively involved in the leadership of several organizations, including the Asian Pacific American Bar Association where she is a current member of board of directors, past Lunar Banquet chair, and past silent auction chair; Folk Arts Cultural Treasures Charter School where she serves as a member of the board of trustees; and the Mazzoni Center where she was a past member of the Justice in Action Event Committee. She is also an avid volunteer with the Monster Milers.
Amanda received her bachelor’s degree in anthropology and gender & sexuality studies from New York University, graduating cum laude. She earned her law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law.
While at Iowa, she was a student writer and articles editor of the Iowa Law Review and the president of the Asian-American Law Students Association. She also served on the Iowa Student Bar Association and the Faculty Diversity Committee and participated in the University of Iowa Legal Clinic. Amanda is fluent in conversational Cantonese.
