Ambrea Watts is a senior associate in Alston & Bird’s Energy Group. Ambrea’s practice centers on energy regulation and restructuring matters, including electricity regulation by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), restructuring of the U.S. electric industry, state regulatory matters and court proceedings concerning energy.
Ambrea represents investor-owned electric utilities and a regional independent system operator. She advises clients on regulatory issues, appears in FERC proceedings and prepares pleadings and other filings submitted to state and federal regulators and courts.
She has experience in energy regulation and international energy matters, including complaints before FERC, state regulators and appellate proceedings, and counseling foreign clients on U.S. statutes and regulatory compliance regarding ownership and new generation.
Ambrea received her J.D. from Duke University School of Law, where she served as the editor-in-chief of the Duke Journal of Gender Law & Policy. Before joining Alston & Bird, Ambrea practiced at the Washington, D.C. office of an international law firm, where she practiced nuclear energy and energy regulatory law.
