Andrea L. Gomes is an Associate at Shipman & Goodwin, LLP and is a member of the firm’s Real Estate, Environmental and Land Use Practice Group. She practices in the areas of Environmental law, Construction, and Land use permitting and Litigation.
Andrea has represented private companies, developers, and property owners in various site plan applications, administrative appeals, affordable housing matters, and property disputes. She has also represented municipalities, contractors, and subcontractors in their construction litigation matters.
Her environmental work encompasses environmental clean-up and cost recovery actions and representation of large shipping companies and their insurers in marine casualty events, including oil spill response and natural resource damage assessments and restoration matters.
Andrea Gomes obtained her Bachelor degree from New York University in 2009 where she graduated with honors. In 2013, she bagged her Juris Doctorate from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
While attending the University of Connecticut School of Law, Andrea served as the Executive Director of the Connecticut Moot Court Board. Prior to joining the firm Andrea served as a Judicial Clerk to Chief Judge Antoinette DuPont and Judge Thomas Bishop. Previously she was a summer associate with Shipman & Goodwin.
Andrea was listed as a Connecticut Super Lawyer Rising Star: Land Use/Zoning (2017-2018). She received the CALI Excellence Awards in Business Organization in 2012, the David H. Neiditz Professional Writing Award in 2013 and American Law Institute Continuing Legal Education Scholarship and Leadership Award (2013).
Andrea is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association (Planning and Zoning Section; Construction Law Section and Environmental Law Section), Portuguese Bar Association of Connecticut, Professional Women in Construction, Mentor Program Committee Member, Connecticut Supreme Court Historical Society. She sits on the Board of CREW – The Real Estate Exchange.
