Andrea Augustine is co-chair of Duane Morris’ Patent Preparation and Prosecution division. She focuses her practice in the area of intellectual property law, particularly strategic counseling for patent and trademark procurement (domestic and foreign) and portfolio management in the electrical, mechanical, and consumer product industries.
She assists clients in drafting and negotiating IP-related agreements including joint development, supply, licensing, sponsored-research, consultant, and confidentiality agreements.
Ms. Augustine performs freedom-to-operate, design-around, infringement and validity analyses; counsels clients on trade secret protection; and assists clients on due diligence for licensing and acquisition matters.
Ms. Augustine also has significant experience in all aspects of IP litigation, especially patent litigation in various federal district courts and before the International Trade Commission in the electrical, software, and mechanical art areas, including GPS navigation systems, cellular telephone positioning technology, voice-over IP technology, liquid crystal displays, integrated connector modules, consumer electronic products, climate control systems, flat panel display mounts, and truck engine filters.
Prior to law school, Ms. Augustine was an engineer and programmer. She worked as an electrical engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, as a software engineer at Anderson Consulting, and as a senior programmer at Reuters America.
