An attorney with extensive litigation and court-room experience, Andrew B. Barras represents a wide variety of clients, including both public and private companies, county governments and municipalities, small businesses, and individuals in complex litigation.
He has represented clients in a number of cases involving contract disputes, fraud, tortious interference with business practices, defamation, product liability, antitrust, intellectual property, corporate governance, securities, and white collar criminal defense.
Prior to joining Dinsmore, Andrew served for eight years in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office. There, he was assigned to the Hardcore Gang Division, where he helped to prosecute notorious criminal gang members and participated in criminal investigations involving gang activity.
Having conducted more than 50 jury trials and 75 bench trials for cases involving issues such as murder, robbery, rape, forgery, fraud, and violent crimes, Andrew is exceptionally adept at preparing matters for trial and obtaining successful results.
As a senior deputy district attorney, he also trained junior attorneys on evidentiary and litigation issues, and in 2010, he was recognized as the District Attorney of the Month in an office of more than 1,000 deputy district attorneys.
Before his work at the District Attorney’s office, Andrew served as a corporate associate in the Boston law firm of Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault (a Vault 100 firm), where he advised companies and underwriters on the process of filing for initial public offering, represented large investment funds, and advised parties in sophisticated real estate and M&A transactions ranging in sizes from several million to several hundred million dollars, including the acquisition of a biopharmaceutical product revenue stream for over $260 million.
Outside of his practice, Andrew serves as an instructor for University of Cincinnati School of Law students in national trial advocacy competitions.
