Andrew R. Shores has the real world business and legal experience to protect, defend and enforce their developments. His practice is focused on intellectual property matters, with a particular emphasis on electrical and software patent prosecution, litigation, post-grant proceedings and counseling.
In addition to his legal background, Drew’s experience includes working as a lead project engineer and electrical engineer at a prominent national engineering firm. In that role, he dealt specifically with aircraft avionics and weather radar systems.
He collaborated with aircraft manufacturers to capture new product specifications and coordinated implementation with sub-system development teams. Drew understands the business of complex software applications, telecommunications and other electrical technologies.
Drew has been named among North Carolina’s “Legal Elite” for Intellectual Property Law by Business North Carolina magazine (2017-present), and he is a former member of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce’s Emerging Leaders program (2017). He serves as the vice president of the Triangle Intellectual Property Law Association (TIPLA) and as co-chair of the North Carolina Bar Association IP Law Section’s Electrical Engineering Patent Law Committee.
He received his Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, with concentrations in intellectual property & advocacy, from the Norman A. Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University, earning the highest GPA in his class. He also has a Master of Science in electrical and computer engineering from Duke University’s Edmund T. Pratt Jr. School of Engineering, as well as a B.S. in physics from Rhodes College.
