Anna’s business litigation experience includes corporate governance, breach of contract, fraud, unfair business practices, dissolution, suitability, and unfair competition. She represents investment advisers and brokers in suitability actions, and unfair competition and misappropriation of trade secrets matters.
Her work has included administrative actions before the SEC and FINRA. Her cases include issues of offshore investments in the Isle of Man and the British Virgin Islands, and the representation of family members in their disputes with other family members about the ownership and management of their properties.
Anna’s health care cases relate to disputes involving managed care claims authorization, the corporate practice of medicine doctrine, physician termination involving non-compete and anti-solicitation clauses, medical group dissolution and non-contracted provider billing disputes with IPAs and medical groups
In the Linda Vista case, the issues of Pueblo Lands and the San Diego City Charter arose in litigation brought by homeowners against a ground lessor of city-owned property. Anna successfully thwarted the homeowners’ threat of court-imposed rent control, demonstrating at trial and then on appeal that the ground lessor was well within its rights to raise rent.
Anna’s expertise has expanded to include defending the property rights of homeowners in coastal areas before the California Coastal Commission and other government regulators. Despite the drought-blighted landscape of southern California, these property rights must be protected given the looming threat of El Nino storm activity beginning 2015.
