Anna Will Kentz defends and advises employers in a variety of employment and labor related matters. She thinks creatively and strategically in order to focus on effective and efficient case resolution.
Anna investigates and responds to internal and external complaints, including those filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, the National Labor Relations Board, the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Additionally, Anna defends labor grievances and employment-related lawsuits arising from Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and related state laws. She also defends other civil rights related lawsuits, including Rehabilitation Act, § 1983 and Affordable Care Act claims.
Prior to joining Cozen O’Connor, Anna worked as in-house counsel for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), where she managed and defended more than 100 litigation matters, including federal and state employment discrimination claims, § 1983 claims, breach of contract claims, tort claims, Federal Rail Safety Act claims, and major Fair Labor Standards Act lawsuits.
While in law school, Anna interned with the Federal Transit Administration, the Department of the Interior, and served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Catherine Fitzpatrick, Presiding Judge Family Part, Mercer County Court, New Jersey Superior Court.
Anna was also a member of the Moot Court Honor Society and a staff editor of the Temple Law Journal of Science, Technology & Environmental Law. Anna recently served as a cabinet member and treasurer of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division.
EXPERIENCE :
- Successfully defended public entity in federal arbitration alleging disability discrimination.
- Assisted with the favorable resolution of disability discrimination claims against a healthcare provider.
- Assisted with the favorable resolution of a major Federal Labor Standards Act (FLSA) lawsuit and related claims and spearheaded efforts to implement FLSA compliance strategies for a large public employer.
- Assisted with the achievement of a favorable decision before the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board Hearing Examiner in unfair labor practice charges.
- Developed a criminal background check policy and comprehensive, step by step procedures for the employer.
