Anthony Soroka provides counsel to local governments, businesses and community associations. Anthony currently serves as the Assistant City Attorney for the City of Deerfield Beach, the City of Parkland, and the City of Weston. Anthony has also served as the Deputy City Attorney for the City of Marco Island and the Assistant City Attorney for the City of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea.
Anthony has extensive experience with government contract disputes, procurement, business taxes, implementation of the municipal budget process, telecommunications, and counsel on compliance with public record, sunshine and election laws. He has served as counsel on charter review committees, municipal code reviews and business tax advisory boards and has drafted numerous government contracts, legislative items and administrative policies.
Anthony serves as an alternate special magistrate and municipal prosecutor for municipal clients. Anthony’s public sector successes include negotiation of a $100 million solid waste disposal contract, completion of a comprehensive review and rewrite of the City Code of the City of Weston, preparation of the legal analysis that supported overturning a $65 million no-bid contract, the dissolution of a local special recreation district, and voter approval of Charter amendments that he prepared.
Anthony’s private sector practice includes assisting entrepreneurs and developers in real estate and business acquisitions, condominium association representation, providing counsel and contract preparation for business entities involved in public-private partnerships, and representation of private clients on matters including competitive bidding disputes, land use and zoning, real estate closings and foreclosures. He currently serves as general counsel for multiple community associations in South Florida.
His private sector representations include the successful protest of a $10 million contract award, successful acquisition of a tax and accounting practice, obtaining a substantial insurance refund from FEMA on behalf of a condominium client, representation on code enforcement matters, counsel to real estate developers on establishment of a condominium association and transfer of association control to unit owners and zoning due diligence for a site acquisition company.
