Depaolo v. Beth Israel Medical Center et al.: 2 million dollar verdict in Kings County on behalf of the Estate of a victim of medical malpractice. One of the largest verdicts of its kind for 7 months of pain and suffering from a single bed sore.

Germana v. Koi: $1,075,000 verdict in Nassau Supreme Court. The case involved a 43-year-old gentleman who was involved in a car accident on 10/28/11.

Pina v. Montefiore Medical Center: $400,000 verdict in a hotly contested medical malpractice trial. The doctors lacerated the infant’s cheek while entering the uterus using sharp dissection during cesarean section leaving a 2-cm scar.

$2,070,000 for failure to diagnose rectal cancer by the patient’s primary care physician in Richmond County.

Michaels v. Cablevision: Settled a car accident case between a commercial van and a biker at trial for 990k. My client, the gentleman on the bicycle, was making a left turn.

Kleinman v. Okun, M.D.: Settled a medical malpractice case for 1.225 million over the phone about two years before trial. Case involved an otolaryngologist’s failure to order an MRI for a woman who repeatedly presented to her with asymmetrical hearing loss.

The doctor incorrectly diagnosed and treated her for a perceived autoimmune disorder when in fact she had a brain tumor known as an acoustic neuroma. Due to the late diagnosis my client suffered permanent hearing loss in one ear and has partial facial paralysis. The 1.225 million was out of a total of 1.3 m in insurance coverage.

Mugavero v. Smashburger: Involved an electrician who was asked to work at a 20-foot elevation but was given a 10ft a frame ladder to stack on a 10-ft. baker scaffold. This setup led to a major leg fracture requiring surgical hardware implantation and shoulder injuries. I was able to win summary judgment on the issue of liability and we proceeded to a damage only trial. At the hotly contested damages trial we were able to recover 1.97 million for the injured worker.
