Aristidis Aris Kourkoumelis is the Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Kourkoumelis & Fotopoulos PLLC, where he leverages his extensive background in Administrative Law and real estate to assist clients with complex commercial and residential real estate transactions, commercial leasing, civil litigation, and state and federal administrative law disputes.
Aris Kourkoumelis helps clients navigate issues before various city, state, and federal agencies, including the Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR), the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), and the United States Department of Commerce.
Aris served as Senior Counsel at the United States Department of Commerce. In this role, he focused on international trade policy and regulation, leading the Department’s litigation team and managing congressional oversight communication.
He advised various agencies on the legal framework for effectuating policy changes and worked on national security trade measures and exclusions.
Previously, Aris was an Associate at an AM Law 100 firm, where he represented institutional lenders in the origination of financing secured by real estate for securitization and sale in the secondary market.
He also worked on various international trade transactions and disputes, including representing manufacturers/importers in custom classification cases before the United States Court of International Trade.
Aris Received his LL.M. Degree from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. He received his JD, magna cum laude, from New York Law School, where he served as the Notes and Comments Editor of the New York Law School Law Review.
