Arthur Schaier, a partner and head of the Intellectual Property Group at Carmody Torrance Sandak & Hennessey, practices in the area of patents, trademarks and copyright. Arthur’s experience includes providing IP, business and litigation services to clients, and his work in industry and educational background in electrical and computer engineering enables him to quickly understand both a client’s business and IP needs.
Arthur handles IP matters for clients that range from start-up businesses to multinational corporations, which include preparing and securing U.S. and foreign patents and trademark registrations, securing copyright registrations, drafting patent and trademark license agreements, software license agreements and IP litigation settlement agreements. On the litigation side, Arthur assists trial attorneys in all aspects of patent, copyright and trademark law, from pretrial discovery and preparation through all post-trial activities.
His IP experience spans a wide variety of technologies, including precision mechanical assemblies such as watches and printers, regenerative braking, advanced thermal spray technologies, surgical devices, fitness related devices, brake systems for automobiles, computer software, lighting, telecommunications, vehicle navigation systems, video encoders, food preparation devices, semiconductor and liquid crystal display technologies, and analog, digital and microprocessor-based systems.
