Aya Suzuki focuses her practice on patent litigation and client counseling in the chemical and pharmaceutical areas. Aya focuses on patent litigation, primarily in the chemical and pharmaceutical areas, with an emphasis on Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) litigation.
She has been involved in various aspects of patent litigation, including developing infringement and validity strategies, preparing fact and expert witnesses, depositions, expert reports, briefing, motion practice, contentions, discovery requests and responses, and document discovery and production.
Aya’s practice also includes pre-litigation counseling and due diligence, including Orange Book listings of patents covering FDA-approved drugs. Prior to joining Finnegan, Aya worked at a Virginia law firm, handling patent prosecution matters before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for Japanese, U.S. and European clients.
Her work included opinion and litigation matters, primarily in the chemical and material science areas. Aya gained significant patent experience working as a Japanese patent attorney (Benrishi) in Tokyo.
She handled a wide range of matters, including prosecution, opinion, counseling, due diligence, licensing, and litigation. In this capacity, she focused on various technical areas, including material science, chemical, alternative energy, pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnology, cosmetics, food and beverage, and semiconductor.
Aya also handled patent prosecution and opinion matters while working at the IP division of a Japanese company. Aya has provided declarations regarding Japanese-language evidence in post-grant proceedings before the USPTO.
