Benjamin C. Burkhart is an entrepreneurial, results-oriented attorney with extensive experience structuring, analyzing, negotiating and executing sophisticated commercial transactions.
He is particularly fluent in tech sector financing and has extensive experience working with those who are investing in the cutting-edge companies that are defining the new economy.
Ben has represented lead investors in dozens of preferred equity financings, including financing rounds involving four of Fortune’s top 20 technology startups on The Unicorn List for 2016, including Uber Technologies, Inc., Airbnb, Inc., Snap Inc. (f/k/a Snapchat) and WeWork Companies.
Large strategic acquirors, founders and investors rely on Ben’s counsel for their transactional needs. He has deep experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, capital markets and investment transactions, with an emphasis on emerging companies and the technologies that drive them. His representations span automotive, consumer, hospitality, life sciences and sports sectors.
Ben is recognized for his work with growth equity, private equity and venture capital funds in both mature and emerging companies, and has also completed dozens of successful acquisitions for strategic acquirors.
Ben offers hands-on legal and business advice to clients investing in and acquiring companies, products, intellectual property and talent. He represents companies in transactions that involve fiber infrastructure and wireless technologies, micro-LED developments, software animation, application indexing and systems and applications essential to IoT, or the Internet of Things.
Prior to joining Fox, Ben was a corporate partner in two national law firms. He previously worked in the London, England office of a global law firm and before that in the London office of JPMorgan Chase, advising on swap transactions and derivative products, as well as restructuring transactions and secured lending exposure.
In his pro bono work, Ben represents Food Business Pathways, an incubator that provides support to public housing recipients seeking to launch their own businesses in the restaurant, catering and food service sectors.
He has also represented HandCrafting Justice, an organization that teaches skilled crafts productions and provides fair trade for women in impoverished communities across more than two dozen countries.
