Ben Mowczan advises clients across a wide range of industries — including industrial, manufacturing and real estate — on environmental, health and safety regulatory matters, including permitting, compliance, reporting obligations, spills and violations of permit requirements.
He helps clients maintain compliance with constantly evolving environmental laws and regulations, including the Clean Water Act (CWA), the Clean Air Act (CAA), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and more.
Ben also counsels landowners, potential purchasers and lenders on environmental liabilities and helps clients obtain and comply with numerous environmental permits, including industrial wastewater discharge permits, stormwater permits and air permits.
Prior to joining Williams Mullen, Ben served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Justice Kaye G. Hearn at the South Carolina Supreme Court. He earned his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the University of South Carolina where he served on the university’s editorial board for the ABA Real Property Trust and Estate Law Journal as a senior articles editor. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in environmental studies from Washington and Lee University.
