Benneth Sheeley

Benneth Sheeley is an associate in the Entertainment and Digital Media Practice Group in the firm’s Century City office. Mr. Sheeley’s practice focuses on transactional entertainment matters, including rights acquisitions, development, financing, production, distribution, talent deals and guild related matters, and licensing for motion pictures and scripted and unscripted television productions.

He works with studios, large production companies, independent producers, and digital content creators (including Focus Features, Amazon Studios, Entertainment One, HBO, Vice Media, Gaumont, Oculus and producers of various Netflix series) in all aspects related to the creation of motion pictures, documentaries, television series, virtual reality content, and animated projects (both motion picture and television).

Prior to joining Sheppard Mullin, Mr. Sheeley practiced as an associate at O’Melveny & Myers, where he represented clients in entertainment and intellectual property matters, as well as broader corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and general corporate advice and counsel.

Mr. Sheeley has also represented clients in complex commercial litigation, including in entertainment matters, business torts, contract, licensing and intellectual property disputes, and class actions. Mr. Sheeley received his law degree from UCLA School of Law and graduated with a specialization in Entertainment, Media and Intellectual Property Law.

At UCLA, Mr. Sheeley served as Managing Editor of the UCLA Law Review and received a Dean’s Award for his academic performance in Motion Picture Distribution taught by Ken Ziffren, adjunct professor and partner of Ziffren Brittenham LLP. During law school, Mr. Sheeley also served as Business and Legal Affairs Intern at Legendary Pictures.
