Attorney Bonnie Calhoun has been with Mendel Colbert & Associates, Inc. as an associate since 2015. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, summa cum laude, in 2008 from Colgate University (earning the Douglas K. Reading History Prize for her senior thesis) and a law degree from the University of Michigan in 2013.
Following her studies at Colgate University, Bonnie was placed as an Assistant Language Teacher through the JET Program (Japanese Exchange and Teaching). In a small, rural village, Bonnie taught elementary and junior high students English from 2008-2010.
Bonnie served as a summer associate for Feldman Orlansky & Sanders in Anchorage, Alaska in 2011 and a summer associate for Miller Nash in Portland, Oregon in 2012. In addition, she was a contributing editor to the Michigan Journal of Race & Law and won an honorable mention in the Client Counseling Competition at University of Michigan in 2012.
Following law school, as a law clerk for the Anchorage District Court in 2013-2014, she coordinated the Small Claims Mediation Program. From 2014-2015 she worked as a law clerk for Judge Erin Marston on the Anchorage Superior Court. Bonnie proudly served as Co-Director of Race Judicata, a charitable 5K to benefit Anchorage Youth Court in 2014 and 2015.
Bonnie was admitted to the Alaska Bar in July of 2014. As an associate at Mendel Colbert & Associates, Inc. she is committed to providing compassionate representation to families in need. When not practicing law, Bonnie enjoys playing on a co-ed soccer team, swimming, hiking, and the Tuesday Night Races.
