
Bonnie Galt Sinclair is of counsel with Foley & Lardner LLP, and a member of the firm’s Health Care Practice in both the Austin and Los Angeles offices. Bonnie specializes in all areas of health law, involving hospitals and health systems, medical groups and physicians, and senior care.
More specifically, Bonnie’s expertise includes: board governance; healthcare compliance, including fraud and abuse, licensure, accreditation, and other regulatory issues; mergers and acquisitions, corporate transaction structuring and general contracting; medical staff governance and credentialing; physician and disciplinary matters; academic medical centers and teaching hospitals; bioethics and human subjects research; healthcare operations (including consent, media relations, marketing, and fundraising); health privacy and security; telemedicine; mental health and chemical dependency; risk management, insurance, and oversight of litigation; and responding to governmental investigations and inquiries.
Prior to joining Foley, Bonnie was counsel for an international AmLaw 100 law firm in Houston. She previously served as director of legal services for Seton Healthcare, in Austin, Texas for seven years; and also served as associate legal counsel and risk manager for Cedars-Sinai Health System, in Los Angeles, California for seventeen years.
Bonnie is recognized as an Associate in Risk Management by the Insurance Institute of America. She is also licensed as a registered nurse in Texas, and as a registered nurse and a public health nurse in California. During her tenure as a registered nurse, Bonnie worked as an emergency department nurse, a mobile intensive care nurse, and a cardiac intensive care unit nurse, and held national certifications in critical care nursing, emergency nursing, and advanced cardiac life support.
Education:
Bonnie earned her law degree from the University of Utah College of Law (J.D., 1986), where she was a member of the Utah Law Review. She received her B.S. in Nursing in 1979 from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) where she graduated cum laude. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the National Honor Society of Nursing.
