Brenda Eckert is the head of the Immigration Law practice group, which is focused on providing exceptional client service and communication. She practices employment-based and family-based immigration. Since 1987, Brenda has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 1987 and is a member of the Connecticut chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
Brenda has successfully provided timely employment-based immigration advice and services to a various business clients, ranging from small employers to Fortune 500 companies in healthcare, biotechnology, financial services, manufacturing, education (including public and private schools and colleges and universities), and publishing.
Such services include the preparation and filing of employment-based EB-1-1, EB1-2, EB-2 and EB-3 [PERM and National Interest Waiver] immigrant visa or “green card” petitions for physicians and non-physicians as well as O-1A, O-1B, O-2, L-1A, L-1B, H-1B, H-1B1, TN (NAFTA), J-1, non-immigrant visa petitions and Conrad Medical Waivers for physicians. She has represented a wide range of professionals including company executives and managers for start-up companies, investors, entrepreneurs, financial analysts, quantitative analysts, physicians, nurses, physical therapists, computer science and information systems engineers, and architects.
She has also successfully filed family-based immigrant visa petitions and adjustment of status applications, as well as U.S. Naturalization petitions. Brenda also counsels U.S. employers regarding I-9 compliance and self-audits, as well as compliance with the federal anti-discrimination immigration laws.
Brenda also practices in the areas of civil litigation, civil rights, and employment law litigation before state and federal courts and administrative agencies. These cases include the full range of employment issues including the defense of contract claims, discrimination claims and related state tort claims.
In order to avoid employment law claims or to maximize an employer’s chances of successfully defending such claims, Brenda also regularly engages in counseling clients on employment law matters.
