Ms. Brenda A. Bissett is a special counsel in the Business Trial practice group in the firm’s Los Angeles office. As a Special Counsel in the Business Trial practice group in the Los Angeles office, Brenda Bissett focuses her practice on insurance coverage and bad faith litigation matters.
Ms. Bissett counsels insurers in matters involving a variety of coverages at all levels and a diverse array of underlying claims, including general liability, professional liability, directors and officers liability, employment practices liability, advertising liability, environmental liability, and business automobile liability. She also litigates coverage disputes at the trial court and appellate level, with emphasis on actions presenting particularly difficult legal and logistical challenges.
Before joining Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton in September 2008, Ms. Bissett spent more than twenty years representing Underwriters at Lloyd’s, London and other foreign insurers at the firm now known as Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell LLP.
She defended London market insurers and domestic insurers in a variety of high-profile insurance coverage litigation, including environmental and construction related liabilities of major corporations and governmental entities and actions against domestic insurers facing breach of contract and bad faith claims involving coverage for technology claims. With over two decades of experience representing insurers, Ms. Bissett is skilled in negotiating case, claim and issue resolution in a careful, creative and cost-effective manner.
