Brett R. Weinstein is an associate in the Washington, D.C., office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where his practice focuses on state, federal, and international privacy and data security issues. Brett counsels clients regarding the collection, use, and transfer of information, data breaches, and government investigations of companies’ privacy and security practices.
Brett has experience advising clients regarding a variety of privacy laws, including Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act, the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, the Video Privacy Protection Act, state data breach notification laws, and international privacy obligations.
He prepares privacy policies and components of privacy programs. Prior to joining the firm, Brett worked in the privacy and data security practice at another major law firm in Washington, D.C.
He was also a fellow at a law firm, where he assisted with litigation regarding encryption and the All Writs Act, fantasy sports and gaming law, and other Internet and data privacy issues.
