Family Law Attorney Brian Cook navigates the complicated and often emotional practice of family law with focus and empathy. As having previously been designated as minors’ counsel, Mr. Cook is particularly sensitive to the needs of children in custody cases.
His approach involves more than just an understanding of complex family dynamics—he provides skill and expertise in high conflict family law matters, to include domestic violence issues, child and spousal support, property division, and child custody and visitation issues.
Mr. Cook’s attention to the emotional needs of his clients enhances his attention to the legal details of a case. He assesses each case based on the facts presented, the client’s goals, the potential costs of the case, and the likelihood of prevailing in court based on those factors.
He has a unique ability to see compromise where others see only conflict. His goal is to have a calming presence in family law litigation because, as he puts it, “…clients’ emotions run high as a result of experiencing a very difficult circumstance, perhaps the most difficult and emotionally draining situation that they have ever encountered.”
Mr. Cook makes time for community involvement by volunteering his time to develop high school and law school students’ oral argument and trial advocacy skills. He also participates in activities to raise awareness and funds for the prevention and cure of AIDS and multiple sclerosis.
Additionally, he has donated to Voices for Children, Village of Promise, and to diversity scholarships at California Western School of Law and the University of San Diego School of Law. Through the Village of Promise, he funded a foster child’s trip to the Amazon.
In his free time, he plays basketball, softball, flag football, and enjoys reading, traveling, and relaxing with friends and family.
