
Brian S. Johnson practices in the areas of corporate formation and governance, private equity finance, and real estate transactions.
A significant part of his practice focuses on assisting startups, entrepreneurs, and privately-held companies with their transactional needs, including advising clients in merger and acquisition activities, joint venture structures, capital raises including private placements and Series A financings, and intellectual property licensing.
Brian also handles a wide variety of commercial and residential real estate matters for his clients, including developers, landowners, and investors. Brian is well-versed in commercial real estate closings and title reviews. He has represented both borrowers and various lending institutions during his career.
Prior to attending law school, Brian was an Assistant Vice President with J. P. Morgan Chase Bank in Ft. Worth, Texas, where he was a commercial lender specializing in the middle-market client base.
Brian serves as outside legal counsel and as a Director for the Charlottesville Business Innovation Council, the leading technology-focused advocacy group in Central Virginia.
He also serves on the board of the nonprofit Charlottesville Tom Sox, a summer league for collegiate players. He is an active adult leader with his son’s Boy Scout troop, and has coached in both Little League and in the Pop Warner organization.
