Brian Yau Chou focuses his practice on Trust & Probate Law, Estate Planning, Social Security, Wills, and Real Estate. He has secured registration as a Health and Life Insurance representative with the CA Department of Insurance. He has also obtained Series 63 and Series 7 license from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
He is a member of the Trust & Estate Section of the State Bar of California and the Long Beach Young Professionals. He serves as a Professional Advisor at the Professional Advisory Council of the California State Long Beach Office of Gift Planning.
He is also an Executive Board Member of the Estate Planning and Trust Council of Long Beach. He has served voluntarily as an Executive Committee Board Member for a non-profit organization, Comprehensive Child Development.
Brian Y. Chou belongs to a family of Chinese immigrants. He is a native of New Jersey. He has acquired the license to practice law in the state of California. After completing high school, he moved to Los Angeles to attend the University of California. He obtained a degree in economics in 2002. He later went on to acquire JD in law and MBA in 2006 and 2007 respectively from the Pepperdine University.
While studying law, he served as a member of the Moot Court Board, the President of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association, and the Vice Magister of Phi Delta Phi Honors Fraternity.
Brian Chou worked as a literary citations editor for the Dispute Resolution Law Journal. He also worked in the Career Development Office of Pepperdine School of Law and is still involved with the community there.
He worked as a Law Clerk with Dieterich & Associates while still in law school and participated in issues concerning Workers Compensation litigation and general corporate law. He joined the law firm, Cihigoyenetche Grossberg & Clouse as an Associate Attorney and defended clients in civil litigation matters on behalf of insurance companies. This law firm specialized in insurance defense and construction defect litigation.
He went on to work as an Estate Planning Attorney with the law firm, Bezaire Ledwitz & Associates. He is an Estate Planning and Asset Protection Attorney at his present law firm, Barth Calderon, LLP. He handles matters related to estate planning, business succession planning, and asset protection.
Attorney Brian Yau Chou is an avid public speaker and has presented to many groups across Southern California such as the California Society of Tax Consultants, Pepperdine University, Cal State Long Beach, UC Irvine, and the Planned Giving Roundtable of Orange County.
He has also served as an Instructor at the Irvine Extension of the University of California. He taught the basics of estate planning and estate administration to the paralegals.
He effectively represents his clients using his wide range of experiences. He can speak English and Chinese languages, and also understand Cantonese.
