
Brittany Prelogar, a co-chair of Steptoe’s International Regulation & Compliance and FCPA/Anti-Corruption practices, handles sensitive corporate investigations and helps multinational clients resolve complex business ethics and compliance issues arising in their global operations.
Brittany conducts investigations into alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and related laws, accounting and securities fraud, and other claims of wrongdoing. She has successfully represented companies and individuals before various law enforcement authorities, including the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
In Brittany’s compliance counseling practice, she conducts risk assessments; develops policies and procedures that are tailored to a company’s risk profile; benchmarks and audits compliance programs for best practices and effectiveness; trains client management and personnel; conducts due diligence and advises on risk mitigation in third-party relationships, joint ventures, and other transactions; and counsels clients on a variety of other anti-corruption, corporate social responsibility, and human rights-related matters.
Brittany has represented companies in a variety of industries, including oil and gas, mining, health care, financial services, information technology, manufacturing, defense, automotive, telecommunications, and consumer products. She has handled matters around the world, including in Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, the CIS, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East.
Prior to joining Steptoe, Brittany spent time living and working in France and Cameroon.’ In pro bono matters, Brittany has successfully represented several individuals seeking asylum and U visas in the United States. She also has analyzed international anti-corruption developments and war crimes tribunals for non-profit organizations.
