Brittney R. Powell represents clients in a wide range of complex business, international trade and environmental matters. She represents domestic and foreign companies in anti-dumping and countervailing duty proceedings before the U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S. International Trade Commission.
Brittney also represents clients before Customs and Border Protection and advises on Customs classification issues, the Enforce and Protect Act (EAPA), and country of origin and labeling compliance.
In addition, Brittney advises on economic sanctions, and export licensing and controls, including compliance under the Export Administration Act and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). She also assists with Section 337 investigations of unfair imports before the U.S. International Trade Commission.
Brittney also counsels on compliance with environmental and health and safety laws and regulations, including Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), and the Clean Water Act.
She also assists clients with environmental and due diligence issues associated with the acquisition and disposition of corporate assets. She has experience representing clients in regulatory and enforcement matters before the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and various state environmental protection agencies.
Brittney also regularly represents clients in appellate matters before the U.S. Court of International Trade and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and handles a variety of litigation matters before state and federal courts.
Prior to joining Fox Rothschild, Brittney was an associate in the Washington, DC office of a national law firm where she practiced international trade law, environmental law and civil litigation. Brittney also clerked for the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and focused on the revision of water quality and clean energy regulations.
Brittney interned in the immigration clinic of a full-service law firm. Before attending law school, she worked as a government relations research assistant at a public affairs firm.
Brittney is active in her community. She serves as a board member of Operation International Gift of Knowledge, a nonprofit that provides food, medical treatment and educational materials to children in extreme poverty, and as a fundraising committee member of the O.U.R. Dream Foundation, a charity that provides education on entrepreneurism and financial literacy to underserved communities. She is also involved with the D.C. Legal Aid Society’s Generous Associates Campaign.
