Drawing on four years of service at the Internal Revenue Service, Buddy represents clients on various tax matters and business transactions, including tax litigation before the U.S. Tax Court.
He has defended corporations and individuals at all stages of federal tax disputes with the Internal Revenue Service. He also has extensive experience in structuring and handling mergers and acquisitions, providing key tax advice and analysis to minimize the tax costs and maximize the tax benefits. Buddy also advises clients on energy tax incentives and credits.

- Represented a large public energy company on complex tax allocations and negotiations following the spin-off of subsidiaries worth more than $1 billion
- Represented Hunting Plc, a U.K.-based oil services provider, in its purchase of the Titan Group from Riverstone Holdings for $775 million
- Represented Hunting Energy on the acquisition of Dearborn Precision Tubular Products, which provides specialist precision machining services, for $83.5 million
- Represented Hunting Energy on the acquisition of Specialty Supply, a company that manufactures precision machined MWD parts used in directional drilling markets worldwide
- Represented private equity fund, White Deer Energy LP, in its $52 million investment in O-Tex Pumping LLC, the largest independent provider of downhole cementing services to the Texas and Oklahoma oil industry
- Represented White Deer Energy LP in its sale of Fiberspar Corp. to National Oilwell Varco
- Represented large corporations and other business entities in relation to executive compensation and benefits, including stock options and appreciation rights
- Represented many taxpayers (businesses and individuals) in federal tax disputes with the Internal Revenue Service from the time of the initial audit to the time the case is before the U.S. Tax Court
