
Caitlin E. Higgins is an associate in the Sacramento office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Healthcare Practice. Ms. Higgins is a Sacramento native who graduated magna cum laude from both the University of San Francisco (Bachelor of Arts in Psychology) and Michigan State University College of Law (Juris Doctor).
During law school, Ms. Higgins served as the Executive Director of the Moot Court and Trial Advocacy Board, earning awards in both appellate and trial competitions. Ms. Higgins was admitted to the California Bar Association in December 2014.
Prior to joining Lewis Brisbois, Ms. Higgins specialized in the defense of general liability actions, with an emphasis on medical negligence defense. She has substantial experience defending hospitals, physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals against claims of medical negligence, including claims for wrongful death.
She has also defended against claims for elder/dependent abuse, premises liability, product defect, general negligence, slip and falls, automobile accidents, and breach of contract.
Ms. Higgins is experienced in all aspects of case management, from intake through resolution. In addition to serving as second chair in two binding arbitrations, she has taken and defended numerous depositions, negotiated multi-party settlement agreements, and successfully argued various motions, up to and including summary judgment/adjudication.
