Calvin R. Nelson is a member of Venable’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group. His practice covers a wide range of intellectual property matters, including patent litigation, trademarks and brand protection, and anti-counterfeiting.
He has represented clients in a wide variety of fields, including smartphone technology, mobile applications, and enterprise software. Calvin has extensive experience counseling clients on intellectual property issues and litigating intellectual property disputes in federal courts and before the U.S. International Trade Commission.
As a former federal law clerk, Calvin has particular experience in federal litigation. In 2011, he briefly left Venable to serve as an inaugural law clerk to the Honorable Robert L. Wilkins in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, now a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit. As a law clerk, Calvin advised Judge Wilkins on a variety of pending complex civil, administrative, and criminal matters.
