Carl Stanley Burkhalter has been a Corporate Law Attorney at Maynard Cooper & Gale since 1991 and has an office in Birmingham, Alabama and attended University of Chicago Law School. Carl is currently serving as co-lead counsel for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama in Federal MDL Antitrust litigation comprising over 40 putative nationwide class actions. Plaintiffs seek literally billions of dollars in damages. Litigation has been pending since 2012.
He is also the lead counsel for 38 prominent investment banks in putative nationwide class action alleging violations of the 1933 Securities Act. Plaintiffs alleged investment banks were strictly liable for underwriting over $500,000,000 in securities that became worthless after issuer (Colonial Bancshares) filed bankruptcy. Settled case for less than $5,000,000, among others.
