Carrie A. Beyer litigates a broad range of intellectual property cases in federal trial and appellate courts throughout the country, with a particular focus on litigation of complex and sophisticated patent infringement and validity matters.
She also has significant experience litigating contract, trademark, trade dress, copyright, false advertising, trade secret, fraud and unfair competition claims. Carrie represents plaintiffs and defendants in varied industries in all phases of litigation, from pre-suit investigations through trial and appeal.
Prior cases have related to technologies as varied as multifocal contact lenses, user interfaces for retail websites, medical records software, apparel, container inspection systems, fastener feeding systems, wireless phones, portable music players, digital cameras, modular jacks and advertising display systems.
Carrie’s experience includes work as a key member of trial teams in Delaware, California, and Illinois, including teams that obtained a jury verdict of patent infringement and a directed defense verdict on trademark, false advertising, and unfair competition claims during a bench trial. Carrie also has experience with contested proceedings at the USPTO and has contributed to Drinker Biddle’s PTAB Trial Blog.
In addition to her litigation practice, Carrie also counsels clients on a variety of intellectual property issues, including patent infringement and validity, copyright infringement, and patent and trademark licensing.
She assists clients with intellectual property and litigation due diligence in connection with business transactions and on matters relating to data security breaches. In addition, Carrie has prepared and prosecuted patent applications in the electrical, mechanical and related arts for clients in the aerospace, consumer electronics, toy, and telecommunications industries.
Prior to practicing law, she gained broad product design experience as an engineer at Hamilton Sundstrand Aerospace, a United Technologies company now known as UTC Aerospace Systems.
