Catherine Klein is an associate in the Real Estate Department of Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s Atlanta office. As a member of the Real Estate Practice Group, she represents clients in all facets of transactions involving the leasing, acquisition, disposition, financing, reinvestment, and development of commercial real estate, including multi-family, retail, office, and industrial assets.
Ms. Klein is also a member of the Derivatives Practice and counsels real estate, energy, investment management, pensions and institutional investors and clients. For real estate derivative transactions, Ms. Klein assists with the drafting and negotiation of interest rate swaps and caps.
For other clients served by the Derivatives Practice, Ms. Klein assists with the finalization of custody, ISDA, MSFTA, clearing, custody and other documentation as well as with regulatory compliance work involving Dodd Frank, MiFID II, MiFIR and other derivatives statutes, directives and regulations.
While in law school, Ms. Klein worked as a student attorney in Emory’s Turner Environmental Law Clinic, where she gained experience navigating regulatory compliance on a local and national level. Ms. Klein’s student comment was selected for publication in Emory International Law Review, which analyzed the shortcomings of the international treaty, the Convention on Biological Diversity, and called for reform of its enforcement mechanisms.
