Catherine O’Connor is counsel in the litigation practice focusing her practice on reputational recovery, government and internal investigations, and white collar defense. Ms. O’Connor helps companies and individuals confront the legal and reputational risks associated with allegations of misconduct, including international advocacy experience in Europe and Canada.

She has worked on corporate internal and government investigations of claims of Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East as well as cross-border disputes and enforcement of foreign judgments. Additionally, she is very active in pro bono matters, including trial representation of a defendant charged with a crime punishable by the death penalty in South Carolina, and representation of individuals seeking asylum, veterans seeking VA benefits, and tenants involved in proceedings before D.C. Landlord and Tenant Court.

Ms. O’Connor joined the firm after completing a two year clerkship for Chief United States District Judge John Bailey in the Northern District of West Virginia.Ms. O’Connor served eight years in the United States Marine Corps Reserve including an overseas deployment and serving as a translator in French and Romanian.

Ms. O’Connor graduated magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School, where she was a member of the Minnesota Journal of Law, Science and Technology and the Intellectual Property Moot Court.  A native of Stony Brook, New York, Ms. O’Connor received her B.S. in economics from the George Washington University, where she served as commencement speaker.

Representative Work:

  • Assisted a non-U.S. energy company in connection with a World Bank investigation into an African nation project
  • Supported the independent monitor on behalf of the World Bank for a company that participated in the Voluntary Disclosure Program
  • Assisted in representation of a group of limited partners in a federal civil suit related to fees collected by its former general partner including throughout discovery process, taking and defending individual and corporate depositions, and drafting motions
