Chanda L. Kinsey graduated from James Madison University in 1976 with a B.S. Major in Political Science and a Minor in Economics. She then attended William & Mary for Law School where she received her J.D. in 1979.
Following law school, Ms. Kinsey served as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney (prosecutor) for Fairfax County from 1979 to 1984. She was an Adjunct Professor at the Northern Virginia Community College where she taught domestic relations, evidence and criminal law & procedure from 1986 to 1988.
Additionally, Ms. Kinsey was a legal instructor at the Northern Virginia Police Academy from 1984 to 1988. Ms Kinsey defended adults and juveniles charged with crimes from 1984 until approximately 2000.
She is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Ms. Kinsey was awarded Outstanding Community Woman for Springfield, Virginia in 1983. She has appeared on FOX morning news as a legal commentator. Ms. Kinsey has conducted approximately 140 jury trials and hundreds of bench trials.
Her practice focuses on divorce and custody, support, child protective services cases, protection orders, domestic assaults, and other family matters in both juvenile and domestic relations and circuit courts all over Northern Virginia.
Ms. Kinsey has litigated complex equitable distribution cases as well as custody cases involving physical, sexual and emotional abuse on the spouse or children of the marriage.
