Chantelle Egan

Chantelle C. Egan is a senior associate in the Labor & Employment Department of Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s San Francisco office. Ms. Egan is an efficient and effective litigator and counselor, who works collaboratively with employers to achieve the best legal result while being mindful of business realities. Ms. Egan has litigated wrongful termination and employment discrimination cases, as well as wage and hour single plaintiff and class action matters, throughout Northern and Southern California.

Ms. Egan also devotes a significant portion of her practice to advising companies, from start-ups to multinational corporations, on a broad range of employment law compliance issues, including on-boarding and off-boarding, performance management, engagement in the interactive process, and pay equity. Ms. Egan’s approach incorporates identifying and integrating a company’s culture and values when tackling compliance.

Ms. Egan has a wide breadth of experience that adds dimension to her labor and employment practice. She served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Susan Illston of the Northern District of California and as an extern for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of New York, where she gained invaluable trial experience.

She has served on three trial teams and conducted real-time jury pool investigations. Ms. Egan has also managed large teams of attorneys, across different firms, in large-scale multijurisdictional litigation. Furthermore, Ms. Egan was an educator and administrator for years prior to law school.

This prior experience instilled in her a relatability that allows her to connect with all the players affected by a litigation or counseling matter – from the entry-level employee to senior management – allowing Ms. Egan to evaluate a legal issue from many perspectives, adding depth to her legal analysis and advice. Ms. Egan is an active member of Seyfarth’s Pay Equity Group (“PEG”).  She assists clients in navigating California’s Fair Pay Act, as well as the ever growing number of additional pay equity state laws.

Ms. Egan is also the co-leader of San Francisco’s Women’s Affinity Group, working to promote women in the legal profession. Ms. Egan also volunteers her time to provide pro bono California compliant harassment trainings to San Francisco Bay Area non-profit managers through the San Francisco’s Bar Association’s Justice and Diversity Center.
