
Christina M. Janice is a senior counsel of Seyfarth Shaw LLP and a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment Department. Practicing primarily in the firm’s Chicago and New York offices, Ms. Janice is member of the firm’s Complex Employment Discrimination and nationwide Appellate Advocacy teams.
Ms. Janice’s litigation practice includes defending public, private and non-profit employers throughout the United States in complex matters; including nationwide and regional employment discrimination class actions, EEOC representative, pattern or practice and hybrid enforcement litigations, wage & hour class and collective actions, high profile executive and single-plaintiff civil rights and employment disputes, and FOIA requests and disputes.
Her breadth of experience includes case investigation and crisis communications, management of fact and expert discovery including statistical evidence, pre-trial and motion proceedings and oral arguments, trials and appeals.
Ms. Janice’s appellate practice focusses on federal and state court civil appeals, writs and injunctions, administrative appeals from government determinations, and counseling employers and trial counsel on effective appellate strategies.
A former in-house counsel for a multinational S&P 500 Index company, Ms. Janice brings unique insight into optimizing rigorous legal compliance while managing the demands of busy business life cycles. She negotiates and counsels clients on Department of Labor compliance partnerships and EEOC / state counterpart consent decrees, conducts complex internal investigations.
Ms. Janice also counsels employers on a wide variety of compliance topics; including domestic and international human resources matters, human resources best practices, performance management, executive compensation and severance, and workforce integration, retrenchment and WARN compliance incident to mergers and acquisitions.
Ms. Janice develops and provides EEOC-approved training to compliance officers and executives, in collaboration with Seyfarth Shaw At Work. She has extensive experience in arbitration, mediation and other forms of early alternative dispute resolution, and in counseling employers on the effective use of these methodologies.
Ms. Janice has been recognized by clients and peers for excellence in litigation and employment law, and has been recognized by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children with an Award of Merit for her work with the United States Marshals Service and legal aid in the recovery of abducted children.
