Christopher E. Ondeck is co-chair of the Firm’s nationwide Antitrust Group. He represents clients in civil and criminal antitrust litigation, defending mergers and acquisitions before the U.S. antitrust agencies, defending companies involved in government investigations, and providing antitrust counseling.
Chris has handled antitrust matters for clients in a number of industries, including advertising, aerospace, alcoholic beverages, appliances, building materials, consumer products, defense, franchise, medical devices, metals, mining, natural resources, oil and gas, packaging, pharmaceuticals, software and telecommunications.
He also has developed substantial experience advising clients regarding the application of the antitrust laws to the pharmaceutical industry, the agriculture industry, trade associations and the energy industry.
Chris also has particular experience with the antitrust issues involving food and agriculture. For more than 20 years, he has represented individual producers, suppliers, marketers, processors, distributors and other market participants.
He also has represented many well-known agricultural cooperatives, agriculture industry associations and consumer brands. His experience includes large class actions, arbitrations and government investigations.
He is a thought leader in the field, and has published and spoken extensively on the antitrust issues involved. He currently represents clients in the nationwide antitrust class action litigations in the broiler chicken, egg, potato and mushroom industries.
Chambers USA, which ranks Chris as a leading antitrust lawyer, called him a “rising star,” noting that clients describe him as “our primary thought partner – he’s very good at explaining the complex issues and making them easy to understand” and praise him for “his strong advocacy skills.”
Chris is a frequent speaker on antitrust topics, and is the author of the Supply Control White Paper, published in 2009 by the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives. Chris moderated the 2012 Capper-Volstead Conference and serves by appointment as the vice-chair of the Capper-Volstead Sub-Committee of the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives.
