
Christopher Richardson is a global energy transactions attorney. His area of practice is concentrated on domestic and cross-border acquisitions and divestitures; strategic joint ventures; project development and construction; energy and commodities trading transactions. He further handles cases of commercial and operational agreements for upstream, midstream, downstream, petrochemical, LNG, and other energy and infrastructure projects; and general corporate matters.
Mr. Richardson offers legal counsel to independent E&P companies, national oil companies, oil majors, trading companies and oilfield service companies on a regular basis. His operations extends to dispute resolution, private equity funds, strategic investors, and sovereign wealth funds pertaining to deal structuring, investment risks, joint venture management, project sponsors, operational and commercial matters, new country entry, and relations with host country governments.
Chris has provided counsel to clients on conventional and unconventional oil and gas, petrochemical, and LNG transactions and projects all over the United States. His operation extends to other foreign jurisdictions, stretching throughout the Middle East, Latin America, Asia, Africa, Russia and Central Asia, Europe, and Australia.
Chris further counsel clients on mining, chemicals, power, and manufacturing related projects and investments throughout the world. He has also provided services to the U.S. Department of Commerce and State Department on matters of the Commercial Law Development Program.
Before starting to work at the firm, Chris served as a partner at a law firm based in Houston. He also worked as a General Counsel and an Executive Committee member of the Mubadala Petroleum, a multinational oil & gas corporation that belongs to the government of Abu Dhabi. The company has upstream, midstream and LNG operations with assets all over the Eastern Hemisphere.
Chris Richardson previously worked in the Hong Kong and Houston offices of a giant energy law firm. He was also an in-house worker at the Occidental Petroleum in the Middle East and Texas.
