Claudia A. Hrvatin is an associate in King & Spalding’s Government Advocacy practice in Washington, D.C. With more than 20 years of experience in Washington, Claudia has worked both on Capitol Hill and in the private sector.
Her primary focus is counselling clients, including Fortune 500 companies, tax-exempt organizations, other entities and individuals, on all aspects of international, federal, state and local campaign finance, election, ethics and lobbying law, including rules specific to the healthcare and financial services industries.
Prior to the 2014 election, she counselled a southern state on compliance with the requirements of the Voting Rights Act. She has served as general counsel to a state political party committee, handling all matters from political law, governance and procedure, defamation, property, contracts, tax and employment issues.
Most recently, she has advised several individuals appointed by the President to political positions in the Executive Branch, as well as corporations that may be affiliated with them, on navigating the process of being vetted by the White House, agency ethics office and Senate committees.
She regularly partners with other practitioners in the firm in providing comprehensive government relations, investigations, regulatory and strategic business counselling expertise.
Before joining King & Spalding, Claudia spent more than five years as part of Shaw Pittman’s Government Relations group. Prior to entering private practice, she served for five years on Capitol Hill, most recently as Legislative Director to Representative Chris Cannon of Utah.
As chief policy advisor to Representative Cannon, she handled both his Judiciary Committee and Science Committee posts, advising specifically on the areas of aeronautics, immigration, intellectual property and technology, as well as on an array of other issues, including appropriations, health care, parliamentary procedure and tax.
