Conor M. Civins is a litigation partner in Pillsbury’s Austin office, where he focuses on complex commercial litigation and intellectual property disputes in state and federal courts across the country.
Conor frequently represents clients in complex commercial litigation matters, including claims involving antitrust, fraud, breach of contract, unfair competition, and breach of fiduciary duty. Conor also routinely handles patent, trademark and trade secret litigation.
Over the past several years, he has argued before the Federal Circuit and has litigated cases in the Western, Eastern, Northern and Southern districts of Texas, as well as various districts in California, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, New York and Oregon. Conor has established a track record of handling complex damage and financial recovery matters.
REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE :
- Representing client in health care industry seeking relief for antitrust violations, defamation, business disparagement, and tortious interference with contract and prospective business relations.
- Representing Nautilus Inc. against ICON in complex breach of patent license agreement case.
- Represented Cybex International Inc. against claims of misappropriation of trade secrets and unfair competition. Tried case to jury verdict.
- Defending Seton in three-patent case against allegations of patent infringement.
- Represented Hewlett-Packard Co. in multi-district litigation against claims of patent infringement involving 23 asserted patents-in-suit allegedly covering IEEE 802.11 a/b/g technology
- Represented Versata Software Inc. against Callidus Software Inc. in litigation involving six asserted patents. The case included an interlocutory appeal that was argued at the Federal Circuit.
- Represented CA Inc. against claims of patent infringement by Tranxition Inc. involving computer configuration migration technology. Case settled favorably.
- Represented Cybex International Inc. against claims of patent infringement by SmartFit Solutions. Case settled favorably.
- Currently representing Freescale Semiconductor Inc. in multi-patent suit against claims of patent infringement involving Ethernet technology.
- Prosecuted two patents-in-suit on behalf of Versata Software Inc. against Callidus Software Inc. Case settled favorably.
- Represented Lamebook, a Facebook parody website, seeking a declaratory judgment that Lamebook does not infringe Facebook’s trademark and that Lamebook constitutes protected speech under the First Amendment. Case settled favorably.
